You are one step away from discovering the 4 Pillars to become a PASSISTA of Carioca Carnival
Let us tell you more about what it is that we do in Rio carnival and how we’ve been transforming the way hundreds of people experience it every year.
It’s unfortunate that millions of revelers arrive in Rio de Janeiro every year for carnival and, because they lack qualified guidance, their dream to parade at carnival turns into a nightmare for not having properly prepared. These are people who parade for the fun and revelry it, but because they aren’t aware of the rules and mandatory parts of a parade, they end up not living the experience to the fullest.
The parade is actually a championship where the main goal of a Samba School is to win the title, and because of that they either close the doors for people who are not from the community, or they make only the heavy costumes available- which you will only be able to carry through the avenue with a lot of sweat, with no fun or dancing.
It happens because these revelers aren’t connected with the people who are able to give them correct information for what I call:
THE 4 PILLARS OF THE PASSISTA
I’ll explain better:
In order for you to have the best experience at the Rio Carnival , you need to master the 4 pillars of the Passista:
Do you have to be a Samba specialist to parada on Carnival? Not at all! But we, at Samba Congress do believe you need to know the basics so that you can feel like an authentic passista
One of the obligatory things a samba school must do is to have all the components singing and interpreting the song. Seeing as it is worth points for the championship, the harmony directors (responsible for checking if things at the school’s parade are in order) might advert or even pull the component out of the parade if he or she is not singing and performing the song.
Harmony is basically the the two first pillars added to 1) movement and 2) alignment of the rooms and floats. The passsita needs to master harmony so that everything goes well in the passing of the school.
a) be sure your “ala” (portuguese for “wing”) is appropriate for passistas, with a light costume for the dance
b) make sure your costume is delivered in time to check if everything is in order, and in time to fix it if need be
c) map the logistics of arrival and exit, the correct side of the concentration, the time for the concentration, the sector and wing, and the director responsible for the sector.

If you register and save yourself a place in this wing right now, on top of everything I mentioned above, you’ll be get the following bonuses:

Now, to the good part: COSTUMES!
Designed to be worn by a passista, it is light and form-fitting so that you’re able to do the samba moves freely. Everything I told you above is undoubtedly a good part, but I haven’t told you the best part yet: You get to keep the costume!
After they’re done with the parade, the participant does not have to return the costume. Seems a little obvious, right? But no, actually. Samba schools have the habit of recalling either the entire costume or the main parts of it by the end of the parade, so they can recycle it and use the following year.
